Volunteers are crucial to the success of Relay For Life, keeping running costs down so that more of the FUNds raised can go towards research and free services to help fight back against cancer.
“Knowing that I was giving so little to contribute
to something so big and worthwhile,
was very rewarding”.
Cancer affects any age or race - one in three New Zealanders is touched by cancer. One of the greatest joys of Relay For Life is sharing heartfelt camaraderie with the many wonderful people you meet. People of all ages and cultures who fight back together gather strength together - the experience is a great leveler.
When you join in as a volunteer you have the opportunity to build on your own strengths - to share your special talents and to practice encouragement and tolerance - the very best things in life.

The Organsing Committee has specific roles that need filling - for instance, you could manage Candle Tributes, Survivorship, Finance, or Promotion. In the months leading up to and in the weeks following Relay For Life, there are administration roles to be filled in accounting, data entry, catering, logisitics and merchandising. You can find more information by reading the Getting Involved page or contacting your local Cancer Society office.
The Cancer Society thanks you - we greatly appreciate your support as a volunteer at Relay For Life.
