Maintaining a healthy body weight and keeping physically active are important for general health and may decrease the risk of some cancers and other chronic diseases.
The Cancer Society supports the current recommendation for physical activity of 30 minutes a day of moderate intensity activity on most if not all days of the week. Moderate Intensity activity includes such things as brisk walking, dancing and lawn mowing. To further reduce the risk of developing some cancers, studies show it is even better if you increase the 30 minutes to 45-60 minutes and make some of the activity vigorous.
The good news is the more active you can be the better it will be for your health overall.
